This pendant is a replica of a find from Birka and is considered Sweden’s oldest dated crucifix. It was discovered in a wealthy woman’s grave from the 9th century and was made of silver. During the Viking Age, it was common for crosses to have a uniform design (like a plus sign), and Jesus was depicted as the victorious god, resurrected with wide-open eyes.
The original is housed in the Historical Museum in Stockholm and is a few millimeters larger. See: Link
