This strap end is not a copy of a specific find, but there are several finds from the second half of the 14th century and into the 15th century that are executed in this style. A characteristic detail is the acorn-shaped tip, along with its elongated shape. We used illustrations on pages 144-149 in ‘Dress Accessories’ as inspiration, but we chose to create a more decorated variant.
To facilitate attachment to the belt, there are three sturdy rivets on the back, making it easy to attach the strap end. Another elegant detail is that the sides are covered with bronze, giving a more robust expression. This was not uncommon during the medieval period.
The strap end is made of bronze and fits on a belt that is at least 11 mm wide. It is not a problem if the buckles are wider, as the leather can be narrowed down. Up to 25 mm width is acceptable. The important thing is that the leather is at least 11 mm wide for the strap end to be attached.
