This hat tipt is based on two very similar findings made at Birka. Both original finds were made of silver and date back to the 9th century. Similar finds have also been made in Russia.
The original mounts were handcrafted in filigree, but this replica is casted. Both original finds are now housed at the Historical Museum in Stockholm.

It was worn at the top of the hat. The exact shape of the hat is unknown, but it is not impossible that it was in the same style as the one worn by the figure likely depicting Frey. See: Image of Frey
