These earrings are based on a find from Ireland. The original was about 5 centimeters tall, carved in wood, and was found in Dublin during excavations at Fishamble Street. It dates back to the years 900-1100. At that time, the area was influenced by Scandinavian Vikings.
The significance of the wolf-like creature may reflect the role of Skoll, the son of the wolf Fenrir (“treachery”), who swallows the sun during Ragnarök in Norse mythology.
