This type of belt buckle is characteristic of the period between the 14th and 15th centuries and was available in various sizes. It is sturdy yet elegant with finely carved details, suitable for a belt that is 22-24 mm wide.

This buckle is based on buckle 386 in the book ‘Dress Accessories’. Although the original was considerably smaller, it had the same shape and proportions and was made of bronze. The original object was found in London and dates back to the second half of the 14th century.
