This Thor’s hammer was found in 2014 in Købelev, Lolland, Denmark, dating back to the 9th century. Over a thousand such amulets have been found in Northern Europe, but this is the only one with a runic inscription. With 7 runes, it reads “Hmar x is,” translated to modern Swedish as “This is a hammer.” The original was cast in bronze and had traces of silver or tin, as well as gold plating.
