This brooch is based on a stray find from Lejre in Denmark. The original can be seen here: Lejre Brooch.

This type of brooch was likely used by women to fasten the neck slit of a tunic. Usually, a larger brooch was also used below to hold together a shawl or cloak. The second brooch was typically round, equal-armed, or trefoil (see, for example, our other Viking brooches).

Made of bronze.
