This Viking-era strap end is modeled after a Gotlandic discovery from the 9th or 10th century, with the original now housed at the Historical Museum in Stockholm. However, the original is not quite as richly decorated as our model.
The strap end fits on a belt that is at least 17 mm wide. It’s not a problem if the buckle is slightly wider, as it’s perfectly fine to narrow the leather at the end of the belt. Up to 30 mm width is acceptable. The key is that the leather is at least 17 mm wide for the strap end to be attached.
The strap end is crafted from bronze.
