original find
A number of pendants from the Viking Age with set rock crystals, often in silver, have been found on Gotland. They were probably worn by women, both as individual pieces of jewelry and as part of larger collections.
This jewelry can be divided into two main types:
Round, spherical pendants, which appear to have been made during the late Viking Age or early Middle Ages
Flatter variants, which date to the earlier Viking Age
Rock crystal is the most common stone, but there are also a few finds with amethyst – like this one from Fardhem: Find from Fardhem with amethyst
