This ring is based on a find from Badeboda in Småland. In the cottage “Lyckans höjd”, the master mason Johan and his wife Albertina lived in the 19th century, together with their seven children. One day, when their daughters Anna and Evalina were playing by a small cairn next to the cottage, they made an unexpected discovery, a treasure consisting of about twenty pieces of silver jewelry. Johan took the treasure to the parish priest Herrlin in Åseda, who sent it on to the county administrative board. The state redeemed the find for 200 riksdaler, a sum that eventually reached Johan via the pastorate.
The original ring was made of silver and was part of a rich treasure today known as the Badeboda treasure. It is dated to the 13th century or the early 14th century and can now be found at the Historical Museum in Stockholm. See: link
